Michael Sterner holds a J.D. from the University of Washington Law School. He has been in private practice since 2010. He served as an attorney at the Internal Revenue Service. Prior to entering the practice of law he worked as a forester and natural resources consultant for almost ten years. Mr. Sterner has worked on American Indian natural resources issues from 2001 to 2003 and from 2011 to present as part of the Indian Forest Management Assessment Team (IFMAT). He holds a Master of Forestry degree from Yale University. After college, Mr. Sterner served for three years in the Peace Corps in West Africa.
